Plan the perfect London wedding at the Teddington Wedding Fair

The “inspiration” phase of wedding planning nowadays often consists of a flurry of Pinterest boards and bookmarked pages on bridal blogs. However, there’s nothing like seeing something in real life if you want to solidify your ideas or find out just how practical your seven-tier cake will be. Social media is all well and good, but when your dream wedding theme turns out to be the unique creation of an exclusive designer far across the Atlantic, it’s time to see what resources you really have at your disposal.

The Landmark Arts Centre Teddington Wedding Fair will be happening on Sunday February 7th, 2016, providing London brides with the perfect opportunity to pick up wedding inspiration from London-based vendors. Everything from dresses and millinery to cakes and DIY decorations will be on show for the Wedding Fair’s 12th year running, with over 40 expert exhibitors.

The Landmark Arts Centre is one of the most beautiful London event spaces, a Grade II Heritage listed building dating back to the nineteenth century located in Teddington in southwest London. The perfect size to get you thinking about elegant, boutique events in one of London’s chicest areas, it hosts the Landmark Wedding Fair every year. Exhibitors in 2016 will include designer milliners, designers who craft their dresses by hand, exquisite handmade accessories and even artisan bakers and cake decorators.

As you wander, soak up the live music and don’t forget to stop by for one of the two catwalk shows, featuring dreamy wedding gowns of every style as well as snappy suits and tuxedos to ensure your groom looks his best on the big day, too. In the “Wedspiration Zone”, brides can discover new DIY techniques to help cut a few costs as well as making each wedding a truly personalised event. Learn to make paper pom-poms, raggedy wreaths and delicate paper-cut designs and you too can turn the Grand Ballroom at the Montcalm into the fairyland of your girlish dreams.

Exhibitions are tiring work, so refresh yourself at the Arts Centre café with an artisanal sandwich or a homemade cake – you might even pick up a little more inspiration, catering-wise.

Admission is £4.00 per person and all proceeds go to the Arts Centre, which is a registered charity, to support its development as a community arts centre for everyone in the Teddington area. There is no on-site parking but the closest train station is Teddington, which is a mainline train station served by Southwest Trains from London Waterloo. You can also get off at nearby Richmond station – reached by Southwest Trains services from Waterloo towards Windsor, Eton and Riverside – andtake the R68 bus to Teddington Lock. The Thames River is close by, perfect for an afternoon stroll along the banks – or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can pop over to Richmond Park for a walk on the wild side.
