A Peak Into the Day of a Wedding Planner

Being a wedding planner is no piece of cake. It takes a person with strong organization skills, stamina, be able to handle high levels of stress, and a good sense of humor. However, a day in the life of a wedding planner is not just one day, but starts months before that person’s big day arrives.

It is always best to start with a detailed timeline. Figuring out deadlines to book a venue, the wedding officiate, photographer, caterer, deejays, and other vendors for flowers, linens, cake, etc are a must, never wait until the last minute. After these details are in place, the planner will do a walk-through of the venue and then a final meeting with the bride and groom. The rehearsal dinner is also an important day for the wedding planner. Here is where the planner will make sure everyone in the wedding party and the ceremony officiate knows exactly what to do.

Wedding Planner

Once the big day arrives, things will go into full swing. The wedding planner will need to be prepared for anything and everything to go a miss. First stop, the reception venue early to ensure the proper set up, where the planner will be in contact with vendors to make sure they arrive on time and to clear up any last minute issues. After this, the planner will meet up with the bride and groom prior to the ceremony to calm any nerves and to fix any last minute issues. At this point, the planner will do the last check on bridal party to make sure they all have their bouquets and boutonnieres. Then send the bride down the aisle. Unfortunately, the wedding planner will not be able to stay for the ceremony, but will be rushing off to ensure the rest of the vendors are on time with their tasks at the reception.

After the ceremony, the planner will coordinate wedding photos with the photographer to ensure all necessary bridal party members and guests are accessible for a smooth photo session. Next, a trip back to the reception hall to make sure every last detail is in place for cocktail hour to the bridal party’s big entrance. During the reception, the wedding planner will coordinate with the deejay for the timing of the dances, bouquet toss, etc. The most important thing is to get things done without being noticed by the wedding guests. Once the reception is over, the wedding planner will send the bride and groom off and then help with post-reception clean-up. Usually, the wedding planner is the last person out the door.

The day is finally over for the wedding planner. . It may seem like a long day, but to that bride and groom, it will be one of the best days of their lives.
